How to Spot Tires Made in the USA
The Department of Transportation (DOT) code is a serial number mandated by the United States government for all tires designed for public road use.
The DOT code, which can be found on the sidewall of every tire, allows consumers to identify when and where a tire was manufactured and its size, manufacturer, and other information essential for safe operation.
Each tire manufacturing plant must have a unique number assigned to it, which will follow the “DOT” symbol in the tire.
So, the simplest way to tell if a tire is made in America is to look for the “DOT” symbol in the tire followed by three numbers that indicate the tire manufacturer’s unique plant code, find the code in the table down below, and you’ll know if the tire was manufactured in America.
